National Personnel Records Center, Military Personnel Records (NPRC-MPR)
- The repository of millions of military personnel, health, and
medical records of discharged and deceased veterans of all services
during the 20th century. NPRC (MPR) also stores medical treatment
records of retirees from all services, as well as records for
dependent and other persons treated at naval medical facilities.
Information from the records is made available upon written request
(with signature and date) to the extent allowed by law.

- Although Ellis Island does not house original records, you may be
able to trace your immigrant ancestors elsewhere, through passenger
lists, naturalizations, and census records. Each search is unique.
The National Archives has passenger arrival records for the port of
New York dating from 1820 to 1957.

- From this site, quickly and easily find address and phone
numbers, genealogy tools, alumni and family networks,
volunteer opportunities, public opinion polls, personality
tests and more.
- Adoption

- Adoption Puzzle, created in 1997, continues to serve the adoption
community by providing extensive tools for both assisting with
research and locating regional support groups and legal resources.
- Orphan Foundation of
America
- In 1981, the late Joseph Rivers, a former foster youth from the
Syracuse area, started the Orphan Foundation of America (OFA). His
goal was simple--help orphans and foster youth as they transition
from foster care to young adulthood, with particular emphasis on
helping these young men and women attend college and vocational
school.

- The official Family Resource site of the Mormon Church. FamilySearch
is a computerized network of databases that includes an ancestral file, Scottish Church
records, a family history library catalog, the Social Security death index, and a
military index.

- Enter your family's last name into this search engine and retrieve submitted information
about your family's past. Displays alternate surname spellings and geographic
origins. You may also add your own data.

- Anyone interested in genealogy will immediately fall in love with this gigantic list of
genealogy-related sites on the Internet. Links to everything from government records
sites to private family sites are included.
- Family Tree Maker
- This is another great search utility for finding submitted family trees containing your
surname. Additionally, this site has many useful links for those interested in
genealogy and family research.
- GenForum
- GenForum is a collection of public discussion groups, each devoted to a specific family
name. The content is all on-topic and will allow you to meet others online from your
family who are also interested in genealogy. Other forums exist for such topics as
adoption, immigration, and other genealogy-related topics.
- Vital
Records Information
- This page contains information about where to obtain vital records (such as birth, death & marriage certificates
and divorce decrees) from each state, territory and county of the United States.

Archives and Records Administration - Genealogy Page
- Genealogists are the most numerous users of the NARA's research facilities and
materials. This site will help you find the information you're looking for.
Includes locations and hours of NARA regional offices, as well as where to look within
government documents for family information.
- National
Genealogical Society
- The home page of the National Genealogical Society, this site is a good starting point
for genealogists going online. Includes tips about how to get started in genealogy,
as well as great links and articles related to the subject, as well. Visitors can
also learn how to join the NGS from this site, although membership is not required to use
the online resources.
- Ancestry.com
- This is a very useful commercial service for finding documents of all types that include
information about your family. Although use of the service in full does require a
membership fee, many parts of this site are freely available to visiting guests.
- U.S. Census Bureau
- As the title suggests, this is the home page of the U.S. Census Bureau, complete with a
multitude of online government documents, as well as such interesting features as the U.S.
and world "population clock," updated regularly. Visitors may search
online for documents that might aid them in their genealogical research, such as county
population and citizen information records from the past.
